Introduction of 20μm Inlet Filter
The 20-micron inlet filter is a protective device installed at the sampling inlet of a helium mass spectrometer leak detector. Its core function is to block solid particles from entering the instrument, thereby preventing system contamination and damage. The filter element is typically made of sintered stainless steel, and the entire assembly is compact, directly integrated into the inlet connector.

Function of 20μm Inlet Filter
The primary function of this filter is to protect the leak detector's critical and expensive components. Specifically, it serves to:
Prevent Particulate Contamination: Metal debris, dust, oil condensates, and other fine particles may be present in the tested pipelines or vessels. Without filtration, these particles could enter the leak detector along with the sampled gas (and the tracer helium gas).
Avoid Clogging: These particles could clog more delicate downstream components, such as molecular sieve adsorbers or narrow vacuum passages. This can lead to reduced pumping speed, slow response times, or even instrument failure.
Protect Vacuum Pumps: Hard particles could potentially damage the precise mechanisms of vacuum pumps, such as the scrolls of a scroll pump or the blades of a turbomolecular pump.
